Euro’s effects on Finnish exports – a simulation by GnS Economics
The simulation model consists of the history of the export in Finland, the partly realized and theoretical exchange rate between euro and markka, as well as of economic activity, GDP growth rates of the U.S. and in the Eurozone.
According to Tuomas Malinen’s simulations, having its own currency would have helped the export of Finland to recover from the GFC and also from the long recession of 2012-2015.
Decentralized Finance (DeFi) hits 2 billion dollars in total value locked
Decentralized finance, a growing part of blockchain-based product entities, has seen leaping growth during the last few years. In early 2020 the total value locked (TVL) in DeFi reached above one billion dollars for the first time ever. The total value locked briefly dropped below $500 million dollars in the late first quarter, only to rocket above two billion USD level.
One of the biggest winners in the DeFi market has been Aave (Lend), which has crossed a billion dollars in market cap. Aave is an Ethereum-based DeFi platform, which started its journey as ETHLend. Aave is focusing on lending and recently launched under-collateralized lending based solely on social reputation. Aave is currently managed by Finnish CEO Stani Kulechov, currently living in London.
